This winter, we celebrated the retirement of two remarkable individuals whose combined careers represent decades of craftsmanship, mentorship, and commitment: Bill and Sok.

Bill: 44 Years of Precision and Craftsmanship

Bill joined Dreisilker in 1981 and quickly became known for his steady hand, technical curiosity, and deep commitment to the winding craft. His path began at the Technology Center of DuPage (formerly DAVEA), where he studied machining and discovered a passion for hands-on mechanical work. That foundation launched a career that would span more than four decades.

Over the years, Bill mastered complex winding techniques, learned from industry mentors, and contributed to thousands of successful repairs. From obsolete AC commutator motors to intricate armatures, he embraced every challenge with patience, precision, and care. His work stands as a testament to the art and science of electric motor winding — and to the value of technical education and continuous learning.

Bill’s legacy lives on not only in the motors he repaired, but in the skills and standards he helped instill in our repair center.

Sok: 46 Years of Leadership and Technical Mastery

Sok’s journey to Dreisilker began halfway across the world. Born in Cambodia, he came to the United States in 1979 seeking opportunity and a fresh start. His first role at Dreisilker was cleaning the repair shop, but it quickly became clear that his curiosity and work ethic set him apart. Our founder, Henry Dreisilker, encouraged Sok to attend the College of DuPage to learn electrical repair — a step that would define the rest of his career.

Sok went on to train with industry leaders such as GE, Yaskawa, and Fanuc, eventually becoming known in the shop as the “DC Motor Guru.” His expertise expanded across spindle motors, servo motors, variable speed drives, and more. He played a key role during our acquisition of Trend near O’Hare and later served as the Variable Speed Supervisor.

One of Sok’s most meaningful contributions was advocating for advanced motor testing equipment. He believed strongly that every repaired motor should be thoroughly tested before returning to a customer — a standard that remains a cornerstone of our repair process today.

Sok’s career is a powerful example of how skilled trades can transform lives, open doors, and create lasting impact.
