Dreisilker offers electric motor contract manufacturing for manufacturers. Through our experienced engineers and suppliers, we are able to design and build electric motors to fit your needs.
Design Process:
During the design stage of contract manufacturing, we work with your team to determine the needs and specifications of your motors. We take into account the environment and the motors application to decide on factors such as the motor’s enclosure, varnishing technique, frame size, type of wire insulation class, and much more. Our engineers are capable of reverse engineering motors and parts if you have a sample that needs to be considered.
Contract Manufacturing Process:
Once the design of your motor is complete, we begin the electric motor contract manufacturing process to start manufacturing your motors. Depending on the design of your motor, the following steps are followed:
Electric Motor Winding:
New electric motor windings are wound using computer controlled technology. This ensures that all phases have the same resistance for efficiency. In addition to using computerized technology, we utilize high quality materials such as wire, phase paper, and connections for your windings to improve the efficiency and lifetime of your electric motor. During the winding process, we take the extra steps to tie down every single coil. Most manufacturers take a short cut and tie down every other coil. Our process ensures the mechanical rigidity of your windings which can increase the lifetime of your motor through limited vibration.
Electric Motor Winding Varnishing:
After the winding is complete, the next step of the electric motor contract manufacturing process is to varnish the windings. Varnishing an electric motor winding electrically insulates the winding, makes it mechanically solid, and protects it from contamination. There are four types of electric motor insulation methods: Dip and Bake, Trickle Varnish, Vacuum Pressure Impregnation, and Ultra Sealing. Learn more about these methods here: “4 Types of Motor Insulation Methods”. Depending on your electric motor application and environment, we will work with you to choose the proper varnishing technique.
Dynamic Balancing:
All rotating apparatuses are dynamically balanced during electric motor contract manufacturing. We utilize computerize technology to dynamically balancing all rotating components to ensure vibration free performance and longer bearing life.
Complete Machine Shop:
We have a complete in-house machine shop that can make any necessary machine work for your custom motors. Our experience machinists can build and customize any components of an electric motor. With various lathe sizes and specialized tooling, we can manufacture items 15’ between centers and weighing up to 40,000 lbs., or to produce items smaller than a pencil lead.
Electric Motor Assembly and Testing:
The final steps of electric motor contract manufacturing include motor assembly and thorough testing. We take all of the components of the electric motor and assemble it to design specifications. Once assembled, we run a litany of tests to ensure your motor is running smoothly and efficiently.
