What Is a Variable Frequency Drive?

A Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) is an electronic motor controller that adjusts the speed of an AC electric motor by controlling the frequency and voltage supplied to the motor.

Unlike traditional motor starters that operate motors at a fixed speed, VFDs allow motors to adjust their speed based on the demands of the application.

This makes VFDs particularly beneficial for equipment such as pumps, fans, blowers, conveyors, and other motor-driven systems where speed control can improve operational efficiency.
